SAP Business AI (Artificial Intelligence) is the suite of AI capabilities integrated into SAP's Enterprise Software Solutions. These AI functionalities are designed to help businesses automate processes, gain insights from data, improve decision-making, and enhance customer experiences.
Joule
Joule is SAP’s next-generation AI copilot, designed to assist with business tasks and questions through natural, contextual interactions. Powered by advanced algorithms and large language models, Joule understands user intent and provides relevant answers by integrating with your SAP Business Applications — boosting efficiency for business users.
Capabilities
SAP Joule currently supports three key interaction patterns, designed for common user needs:

| Transactional | A transactional capability helps you with your day to day tasks. Using transactional capability types, Joule works with you to help you create or retrieve business data, complete your tasks, find the information you need to complete tasks, complete required task steps, directs you to the right place to complete parts of tasks that can't be completed in Joule, update business data, and much more. |
| Navigational | A navigational capability helps users find and navigate to the functionality or apps they're looking for without having to go through multiple links to reach a destination. |
| Informational | An informational capability (Conversational search) helps users retrieve necessary information from the SAP Help Portal or documents uploaded to the Joule service if you've Set Up Document Grounding. Joule searches available documentation and it's own knowledge base to find the answer to your query and summarizes the search results and provides the summarization as the answer to your question, along with the top three search results. |
| Analytical | An Analytical Insights capability helps users explore their data and gain insights into their business, in a natural, conversational experience. Using familiar business terms, simply ask a question about your business data, and Joule will instantly provide answers as simple charts and metrics. Analytical insights are powered by SAP Analytics Cloud. |

Accessing SAP Business AI Services with AI Units
Access to SAP Business AI Services is provided through a subscription model, where you purchase SAP AI Units either individually or as part of packages. AI Units serve as a virtual currency that allows you to use all features of the Business AI Services. Usage is tracked and monitored.
You can view the list of available AI services and use the cost estimator to determine the number of AI Units required for your specific business context. After purchase, the AI Units are pooled and can be used across systems and capabilities for all premium AI services.
Each AI service has a usage metric that can be calculated using the estimator tool. Your monthly consumption is displayed at https://me.sap.com and is calculated annually from the start of the contract.
